The 01's mildly tilted cab is widest at the front whence it slims all the way to the unusually pert business end. This curvaceous cross section undermines internal standing waves and visually suggests something racy which suits the product's actual performance very well. The easily removable grainy black dress baffle mounts with rubber retainers on short steel bolts. It only sports the Børresen logo at the bottom and bull-nosed openings for the drivers then hides all their mounting screws for a very clean look yet maintains easy access. Serious audio establishments take potential failures/accidents and associated repairs into account during the very early design stage.

The cabinet top is flat while the underbelly features three circular cavities to accommodate the Ansuz decouplers, two near the front, one at the far end. Up high in the spine's channel sits the bass-reflex tunnel baptized tuning port. This is assisted by two aluminium vanes to minimize turbulence. Speaker terminals on a protruding block below accept only banana/BFA-style terminations. Lack of regular binding posts compliant with spades might frustrate some individuals. Not me though I admittedly was lucky. The 01's 4cm clearance wouldn't house my Boenicke S3 speaker cable's thick wooden barrels. Fortunately, my LessLoss Firewalls end in sleeker C-MARC cables finished in BFA. Those pig tails went in nicely.

The 4.8" mid/woofer and ribbon tweeter are proprietary and built from scratch. As advanced developments they most likely swallowed up many resources in R&D. The dynamic driver's iron-less motor relies on N52 neodymium magnets and two copper poles. Although doubling as heat sinks, these copper rings primarily lower voice coil inductance to improve linearity and increase current delivery to a driver for higher peak handling with lowered port Ω peaks. To break hysteresis, the voice coil former is titanium and unusually open cast baskets improve air flow and decompression inside the box. Very stiff and light, the cone uses a honeycomb Nomex core between two very thin layers of carbon skins similar to the wings of Formula One race cars.

Børresen's signature ribbon is based on a nylon/aramid substrate coated with aluminium to weigh next to nothing (0.01g of moving mass) yet is thermally stable to 600C°. Add 96dB efficiency, an easy 6Ω impedance and the very same powerful N52 neodymium magnet type of the mid/woofer, just perforated. The tweeter operates as a dipole without transformer. Its rear stroke vents through the mirror-imaged triangular openings on each cheek. My sample's careful examination showed accurate CNC work, proprietary twists, a mild amount of wool damping and no glue. One heavily perforated HDF disc behind the mid/woofer creates immediate pressure loading. The rear energy then hits a second chamber and from there escapes through the rear port and its skeletal vanes. Zero interaction between the two transducers plus optimized controlled air flow are the goals of this thoroughly engineered port solution.
