Fast forward to today. The entire Diesis Audio catalogue embodies these principles by seamlessly blending strong visual and technical identities with modern and vintage aesthetics, Italian and exotic influences. This fusion results in unique luxury products with a strong emotional resonance. Notably over 80% of it exports beyond Italy, with the primary markets being the US; China, Hong Kong and Singapore; and central Europe, notably Germany and The Netherlands. Within this lineup, Aura stands out as the best seller.

A literally foundational element of Diesis speakers are their woofers. The designers were adamant that an open baffle demands an exceptionally inert frame against which high-excursion drivers of real potency can work without colourations or undesirable energy losses. Hello general mass damping with carefully selected internal damping materials.

This concept culminated in the formulation of a unique blend of cement reinforced by fibres and minerals christened Clad58 after inventor Claudio. This compound gets shaped into the speaker pedestals. The manufacturing process of that structure has strong parallels with construction engineering. Aura's framework consists of a 3mm thick stainless-steel plate to which affixes a steel wireframe which then gets placed in a casting mould for Clad58 immersion.

It's why each Aura weighs ~55kg, a paradox where high mass assists lightness by way of clean transients, keen microdynamics, air and clarity of resolution.

The custom paper-cone Faital woofers measure 10" and 12" respectively. Diesis firmly champion pro-audio transducers. These woofers install in an unconventional manner. Rather than employ traditional wood screws, a large annular steel plate and robust O-rings press them with uniform force against their frame in a method called 'total-fix' mount. For the Special Edition of my review, the horn is CNC'd from solid American walnut known as Noce Canaletto based on a meticulously optimized 3D model.

Gorgeous Canaletto blocks also appear on the front dress baffle whose sides and back wrap in genuine leather with meticulous contrast stitching. That workmanship originates with the prestigious Italian district around Poltrona Frau, in the renowned luxury leather-seating factory of Tolentino/Marche.

The Aura SE features three modular footers crafted from wood, brass, aluminium and Corian layers. By changing this stacked mix and the precise footer placement, we can tweak the performance. The configuration I ultimately used eliminated the aluminium and placed two footers near the front corners which enhanced spaciousness and added a touch of warmth to the LF, all while maintaining the signature speed and precision of dipole bass.
