Unlike Luddites, I embrace new tech wherever it works. Wherever it doesn't, I'm quick to qualify 'for me'. Just because my circumstances have little or no success doesn't imply that yours couldn't diverge significantly. That's today's conclusion. In the main system using Sonnet's Pasithea DAC as my with/without case, I again couldn't tell what the Sortz did, never mind discern any good/better/best ranking. Having visited the Ansuz factory in Aalborg, I experienced what Dawid Grzyb of HifiKnights and Dirk Sommers of HighFidelity.de did in separate visits. Whatever the Danes demoed was always readily audible. So I refuse to believe that their Sortz plugs are suddenly ineffective fluff. I simply think that our systems didn't need their cure. As reported, in a few instances I did spot faint polishing action in the treble. For my money, I just considered it too small in scope to get excited about. I feel the same about the vast majority of user-selectable digital filters.
What if my hearing was insufficiently sharp and couldn't dig deep enough? If I can't hear it, I needn't spend money on it. It's my pragmatic answer to that harmless question. It'll only trip you up if you're insecure in your own perceptions. As to mine, it does appear that in our present location, I needn't worry about open connectors. Having signed a 5-year lease, I'll put the subject on ice. If we return to a fully connected smaller village where each boutique, eatery, java hut, B&B and hotel advertises its own WiFi network, I'd want to reassess my current conclusion. If your own circumstance differs from ours, you might already be a prime candidate for these Ansuz Sortz plugs.
It'll be an easy-enough experiment to conduct and return shipping marginal should you want to send them back…
