Orpheus goes SE – Tsvetan Tsencov's RT Audio Design high-resolution DAC with outboard PSU just got more expensive parts and connectors. In the Orpheus SE, an XMOS transceiver handles conversion from USB to I²S with galvanic isolation powered by its own low-noise power spur and a Xilinx CPLD reclocker. A 24/192 BurrBrown DAC handles conversion to analog with a passive I/V converter and Lundahl LL 1545A output transformers. A 12V/2.2Ah battery is charged from the external linear power supply. Digital inputs are on USB, coax and AES/EBU, analog outputs on RCA exclusively.
