CoLinear DSP-8c

CoLinear – It sounds far better than CoDependent. It's Oliver Freeborn's new brand whose first product is the DSP-8c [£995 intro price] which could just be a real problem solver for stereo 2.1/2.2 integrationists. Though it's an 8-channel DAC/processor with RCA/XLR outputs and remote control whose browser window gives power users control over extensive EQ and filter coefficients, in its most pedestrian employ it can become a digital crossover between mains and sub/s. Here the DSP-8c gives us control over the high and low pass, their filter frequency, slope and shape, their relative gain and even—you can't do that with analog filters—precision time delay for the mains to let a subwoofer that's behind due to its own digital latency or physical setup catch up. Check out the product page and owner's manual for all the details. If you're a sat/sub fan keen on seamless integration, this could just be your audio equivalent of a Swiss army knife. And for that it's priced rather attractively when it can do thing we couldn't do with analog versions like Magico's, Wilson's or SPL's which cost from a lot more to loads more.
