Blast from my past – During my tubular adventures, one brand stood tall representing the Western Electric era; Shigeki-San's Yamamoto Soundcraft of Japan. Think flea power direct-heated triodes like the 45 or 300B. Think resin-impregnated wood plinths as a form of more attractive Panzerholz. Think rare pentode drivers. My favourite of the review Yammies was this A-08 45 SET. Ownership obviously hinges on copacetic speakers like 100dB Voxativ or 109dB Avantgarde. That makes little sense in the primary system of a reviewer handling more mainstream kit. That said, I remember my 45 days fondly and Yamamoto continues to be active and available.
