Blast: Camerton Binom-1

Blast from my past – Oleh Lizohub's Camerton Binom-1 [€12K/pr] still causes WTF memories for doing things its compact stature and single driver really ought to have conspired against. Its 20 x 38 x 30cm HxWxD dims versus claimed 35Hz-28kHz bandwidth still look all wrong on paper. Then listening begged to differ. I reviewed it in 2019 and it remains current. Why Oleh hasn't pursued more reviews since to keep this design in the public eye I don't get. Marketing doesn't seem his strong suit. Proper engineering most certainly is. That includes his own wideband driver for this speaker; his own for the planarmagnetic headphone. He's a true obsessive who sweats details others haven't thought of yet. Appreciating that still doesn't explain how the Binom-1 manages its outrageous bandwidth. Should you ever be in a mood to have your brain rattled and expectations perverted, this high-gloss monitor remains a perfect destination. You know what they say about vampires. They can't enter your crib unless you invite them in. Once they're in, you will get bitten.
