Blast: Bakoon AMP-11R

Blast from my past – In July 2012 I got my grubby mitts on Bakoon Product Int.'s 10wpc two-box AMP-11R looking like a Mac stack sanctified by Cupertino. This amp and its various descendants birthed the brand Enleum and today's AMP-23R. So the 11R is the one that started this strand of audio DNA. It put the current-mode Satri circuit—a discrete opamp whose variable output resistor sets its gain—on the map. Today evolutions thereof factor with the brands Enleum and Satri Circuit Laboratory. The versions I heard suggest a Goldmund-reminiscent gestalt at lower power. At 25wpc the AMP-23R still makes for a superlative headphone amp. Scaling up its performance to 100 watts is the promise of the forthcoming AMP-54R. In my audiophile journey, the meet with Bakoon was one reason why I eventually got stuck on class AB circuits of high speed.
