Corinium not Cornelius – Christened after ancient Rome's name for Cirencester as Acoustic Energy's HQ, their new single-wire rear-ported 3-way speaker in a curved enclosure with 4° rake and 6mm aluminium baffle combines a new synthetic polyester soft-dome tweeter made from Toray's Tetoron with a 2nd-gen 12cm carbon-fibre midrange and dual 14cm matching woofers. Internal hookup wiring is by Wireworld. Claimed bandwidth is 38Hz-25kHz, sensitivity 92dB. 2nd-order filter frequencies are 260Hz and 3'400Hz, dimensions 110 x 23.5 x 38.5cm HxWxD. Each speaker weighs a solid 40kg and the glossy British Racing Green shown is one of the available finishes. Others are wood veneer and satin black or white. Pricing starts at £6K/pr.
