Srajan, unless I knew better from reading you for a long time, I'd claim you had lost it in your latest LAiV review. You are right to say that preconceptions look at these tiny amps without much hope for the type performance you report. I could see it on a desktop with small speakers not played very loud but you showed your big main speakers and wrote that they worked beautifully. That's hard to swallow. I've been able to confirm some of your earlier reviews by hearing their components or speakers for myself so know that we hear very similarly. In this instance, my brain is simply reluctant to tune into the new frequency of modern ultra compact class D. Seeing how long your LAiV review is already, I don't expect more but would still love a short confirmation that indeed, they do the same things far bigger stuff used to do. Thank you very much, Arnold
If a photo is worth a thousand words; and if manufacturers go to tradeshows with their best foot forward to romance prospective buyers and the press whilst spending often long green just to be there… this photo might convince you? It's LAiV's exhibit at the Singapore show; with the very same speakers I use in my bigger room. That might tell you all you really want to know; from a credible source with a lot of self interest on the line. Their power conditioner too is the same I used. Ditto the cabling. Only the front end differed. Welcome to the new frequency, Arnold! Srajan
Ah. That really makes your point, doesn't it? It's nearly bizarre how effective it feels on my end. You're of course correct that LAiV wouldn't attend a show in their home city only to bring speakers that their amps couldn't drive. Okay, I'm rebooting my brain now. Thanks, Srajan. That was very helpful. Arnold
Glad to hear it was. And FYI, Grzegorz Rulka, one half of the Qualio Audio team, owns a pair of the bigger LAiV monos. With his own brand Virtual, speaker efficiencies are low and he likes to listen very loud so wanted the headroom. Plus, Chorus didn't exist yet when he bought his GaNM. Not that they sound the same. I think he would prefer what he already has. Me, I prefer Chorus. Srajan
