The Neat Petite renders cymbals and hi-hats with finer pixel count which spreads out more finessed. The Canton does sibilants a little more compact and less finely atomized. Yet even though more expensive speakers may sound more relaxed and at the same time more exposed on top, the GLE 30 still does a very good job. The alternative for the design team would probably have been to tune them more rounded and capped to then compromise microdynamics, resolution and airiness. Not better or worse, just a matter of taste. Speakers are always compromises which is ever more true as prices drop. What gives? I would classify the HF dosage of the GLE 30 as straight-line neutral with a slight tendency towards freshness. Of course we can angle the speakers less towards us but to my ears that simply reduces the fetching sensation of airiness. I like it better when the GLE 30 tweeters aim more directly at me. By the way, don't fret over long-term listenability and stress-free operation provided that the electronics are neutral and clean. In my trials already a €399 Rotel worked really well to reveal the described attributes. If in doubt, go for kit that's a bit softer on high. My system is basically tuned for neutrality and even 1980's plastic productions like Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" go down easy over the GLE 30 although there is certainly no romantic flattery. Paaaartyyy? Only at SPL that start to trigger alarms does the GLE 30 lose its composure to sound increasingly nervous. However, SPL stability is probably sufficient for condo flats provided that maintaining neighbourly peace is an obligatory condition for enjoying music. So the small Cantons are not a tip for the next big party. For listeners who like to listen late at night at whisper levels however, they are. I like the fact that they remain pleasantly lively even at low volumes without any disturbing tonal shifts. I don't want to get too stereotypical but the Canton GLE 30 aims more at music lovers who like it sporty and sophisticated plus those who want to enjoy their favourite albums with their heads. Especially considering price, the dynamic exuberance and transparency are exceptional highlights of these speakers which would also look good in a proper home studio. There is a lot to discover when listening with these. The pleasantly profound bass and soundstaging with almost high-end qualities certainly appeal to the emotions as well as head. Romantic listeners or oomph fans could want more fluid highs or more substantial lower mids but the GLE 30 counteracts with structural insight and speed. No speaker does it all especially at this price. The real trick is to maintain balance whilst tweaking the particulars of a core voicing. Here Canton's small monitor is a true expert. Strongly recommended for audition.
