Speaking of stress-free, except for a few recordings I also had a lot of fun with poor recordings. Though the Airtech ATS01 are not forgiving, they don't artificially sharpen anything either. They are too good of quality although quantitatively do exhibit a certain emphasis on presence to promote a more offensive than chilled character. Also important, there is absolutely no room to criticize the timing or coherence between thin membranes and cones. Connect the Airtech ATS01 to a neutral clean high-quality amplifier of 100wpc or up. Already my combo of Funk MTX and Norma Revo PA 150 worked quite well before I ever armed my Bryston 7B³. Yes I have often listened to more textbook speakers but never had a stronger connection to the music. So the bottom line with the Airtech ATS01 was more listening fun. After returning to my reference speakers, the music suddenly seemed strangely well-behaved even if I got used to that quickly again. Whether you intend to buy them or not, every music lover should definitely hear speakers like the Airtech ATS01 in a good acoustic environment at least once in their life.

Psych profile of the Airtech ATS01…

• dynamic behaviour in the midrange and treble that's not simply about 'even better' but a bona fide live feeling.
• resolving power in no way inferior to dynamics but not about basic bean counting or analytics but minimizing interpolation work for the listener's brain to net rarely heard realism.
• expansive beautifully large-format staging with a depiction that's wonderfully detached from physical sound transducers to have great turn-on immediacy. Good stereo centre and decent localization sharpness but neither are specific strengths.
• more present than neutral overall tonality where especially the upper mids seem a bit more pronounced against an upper bass/fundamental that's a bit restrained. However, the tuning never feels unpleasant, just a fresher flavour.
• minimally elevated bass output with semi-dry textures which aren't overly differentiated. Yet the low registers carry saturation, blackness and nicely balanced pressure that really play to emotions. You wouldn't want to change this tuning by even the best fairy godmother. Mature but not extreme extension meets impeccable timing vis-à-vis the upper bandwidth.
• party-level stability as well as great dynamic and resolution detailing even at whisper volumes.
• high-quality workmanship and very stable form-follows-function construction without obvious highlights. The stiff sticker of the Airtech ATS01 seems primarily justified by driver tech R&D and sonic results.
