Dear Srajan:
In response to your question why I have focused on tube electronics, I have included our company motto, "No chance for compromise":

This motto acted as a kind of guardian angel when our company was founded, and it has accompanied us on all the paths taken by the firm over the past 20 or more years. It has helped us overcome obstacles, kept us on the straight and narrow and has often prevented us from making the wrong decisions. In the future, it will continue to be the yardstick against which our work is measured.

Just as there can and must not be any compromises in the composing of good music -- whether classical, jazz or pop -- so the technical equipment used to reproduce music, including the amplifiers, must meet exactly the same standards.

If, however, these standards are seen only in a technical light, it is easy to fall into the trap of pure technical perfectionism, as is the case with most of our competitors. But if we remind ourselves that these appliances do not actually have to do anything other than amplify the electrical signals supplied by the sound carriers (by the analogue or digital records, or similar) as unadulteratedly as possible (and here the emphasis is on unadulterated) and to send these on to the loudspeakers, it is not enough to concentrate solely on the solution of technical problems. If the musical side of the problem becomes subordinate to the technical perfectionism, there is a risk that we may lose sight of the original goal, which is to offer the listener the highest possible degree of unadulterated, accurate musical reproduction. The secret of building amplifiers that are designed to help achieve the goals described above lies in the symbiosis of knowledge about the music combined with a suitably skilled application of technical know-how. Using the right constructional components -- i.e. those of the highest quality -- in the right place and concentrating on the things that are most important, are absolutely vital in the achievement of a successful concept. Knowledge about what the most important things actually are cannot be learned from text books, nor can it be copied from others. Access to this knowledge is not gained automatically, on the contrary, every manufacturer, every designer of audio components must make their own endeavours, work hard to gather experience with the result that their products offer the user the ultimate in audio enjoyment. The accumulation of material designed to simulate high performance -- whether at an intellectual or craftsmanship level -- we leave to those who need it. Listening to music should not be allowed to degenerate into mindless high-tech fetishism in which the use of technology is at the fore, rather than that mental grappling with the music that envelops all the senses.

The common denominator of all our products is the use of classical electronic vacuum audio valves as the active element for signal amplification.

In line with our motto: "in our amplifiers, no transistors get in the way of the music", our products are fitted exclusively with valves. Semiconductors are only given services to perform outside of the signal path, such as supplying the power.

Next you asked about how our new line of products integrates with or parallels our Classic line. Please see the enclosed explanation which we have sent to all our retail partners:

To all KLIMO partners

Dear Friends!

New times provide us with new challenges! In order to keep up with the global 'Zeitgeist', we have redesigned our company strategy. We would, for this reason, like to present to you the most important cornerstones of our future work in the field of developing, manufacturing and marketing products for high-quality music production.

"Committed to tradition - prepared for the future."

This slogan will accompany all of us, the members of the KLIMO family, en route to a future together. The 'traditional' element is experience gathered over more than 20 years of developing and producing vacuum-tube audio amplifiers, which are deservedly rated in our line of business as being among the best available on the world market - after all, these are products Made in Germany. We intend the core of our product range, the "Classics", like the preamplifier MERLIN, the phono-preamplifier VIV and the 300B-triode power amplifier BELTAINE, to continue meeting the requirements of music lovers with high aesthetic standards.

In the future, however, we no longer want to cater exclusively to the needs of exacting audiophiles. With this idea in mind, we have developed a new concept in our company strategy, which we are now bringing gradually to life, and which we would now also like to present to our longstanding and reliable partners.

"The new generation"

This new range of products is the result of many years of research and development, continuous questioning of research results and -- this point is particularly important -- productive dialogue with our most important partners. Starting out from the basis of our tried and tested Classics, we have created new appliances that resonate with the spirit of our times. During this process, we have taken extreme care to ensure that a sense of individuality is retained in these new products and a drift towards mass production avoided. And now, we proudly present to you our "new babies", which have already won numerous awards:
  • MERLINO : High-level/line preamplifier
  • LAR : MC/MM phono-preamplifier
  • BOD: CD filter
  • TINE: 35W dual-mono power amplifier
  • KENT GOLD: 35W monaural power amplifier
  • TPS: Tube regulated Power Supply
  • The phono-preamplifier LAR and the Line/high-level line-preamplifier MERLINO combined with the TPS (Tube regulated Power Supply), marketed under the name of LAR GOLD+ or MERLINO GOLD+ represents the best of our preamplifier range.

Our Classics, the MERLIN, MERLIN LS and VIV combined or updated with the TPS (Tube regulated Power Supply), reach previously unknown sound dimensions. The heart of the music system -- the KLIMO vacuum-tube audio amplifier -- has been ideally complemented at both ends. Serving as an analogue front end is the elegant LA MUSICALITA:

  • Analogue turntable TAVOLA ROTONDA
  • Tone arm LANCELLOTTO
  • Cartridge ERTANAX

Dominating at the reproduction end are our stand loudspeakers, the

  • GLOMEN and their little brother, the
  • GLOMEN piccolo

Our cables from the EIS, AIS, DIS, AISIS to the REFERENCE ranges guarantee an optimum connection between individual components in the music reproduction chain. As we expanded our product range, it became necessary to make better use of our resources and utilise our strengths in the best possible way, i.e. in a concentrated form that is effective for different projects. The result was the KLIMO laboratory, which is the epitome of an efficiency-based distribution of work in the KLIMO family.

The particularly important areas of production, coordination, logistics and world-wide marketing of our products have been taken over by experienced and skilled members of the KLIMO family. I myself, the company founder and director, will continue to be responsible for the design and continued development of KLIMO products. In this work, I would be grateful for guidance and would like to be inspired by ideas and constructive suggestions by you, our KLIMO partners. As in the past, I wish to maintain close personal contact with you, with a view to intensifying the friendly relationship we already enjoy.

On behalf of the KLIMO family, I would like to thank you all warmly for our excellent and productive work together, and look forward to a successful continuation of these amicable and flourishing relations.

Yours sincerely,
Dusan Klimo
