The next step – It's Ancient Audio's Lektor Step CD player [€9'000] with coax/USB inputs, digital speaker processor and digital 100dB volume control for amp-direct drive via its 2Vpp RCA outputs. The top-loading mechanism is an Austrian CD-Pro 8 controlled by software written by Ancient Audio. A single 16.9344MHz clock controls the spinner, display, dip-switch settings and digital interface. A Sabre 9038Pro with 7 filters handles conversion. The enclosure combines aluminium and hard glass. It can be placed flat or tilt up via dedicated spike. The output stage is based on Mosfets but tuned to mimic tubes. The coupling caps are premium Teflon Vcaps. The finish is black as shown, the slanted display red on black.
