The emblem of the Old Town.

How much more picturesque can you stand it?

If the street-facing hotel facades are impressive, you can bet that what faces the lake is even more so.

As on every quai or promenade in the world, there's street vendors. Here we had hot mint tea from a Tunisian stall, bought Indian chai spices from a Sri Lankan and dried fruits and olives and honey from a Sardinian. Some home-made gelato from a newly opened shop topped off our Sunday afternoon walk. Did I mention that Nathan Tasotha of the spice emporium gifted us with two pakora/samosa-like goodies while the Tunisian tea walla wanted no money when Ivette picked two of his used books? Auspicious beginnings. Continued.
