From the Wikipedia: "A bearing is a machine element that constrains relative motion and reduces friction between moving parts to only the desired motion." And, "upgrading is the process of replacing a product with a newer version of the same product. In computing and consumer electronics an upgrade is generally a replacement of hardware, software or firmware with a newer or better version, in order to bring the system up to date or to improve its characteristics."

Our November 2012 review of the PTP Audio Solid12 turntable concluded with a Blue Moon Award for Cost-Effective Vintage-To-Modern Transformations Of Classic Lenco Idler-Wheel Turntables Made To Order. As the name implies, a Blue Moon award is a rarity. It is issued only when a product really deserves it. That we were not alone appreciating the concept and performance of the turntable very much can be seen on the PTP Audio website. Customers from all over the world have left their own feedback to similar effect. Part of the feedback are photos of turntables sporting a wide variety of arms and cartridges illustrating the versatility of the classic Lenco- based highly musical vinyl spinner.

Original Lenco bearing

With the mechanical and electric overhaul of the vintage Lenco L75 heart and mounting the whole in a well-crafted Corian plinth together with a new top plate to preserve and enhance the performance was pretty much all Peter Reinders could do to the platform. The result was an excellent turntable which combined with the best arm and cartridge one’s budget allows guaranteed musical pleasure for many many years. However, there was one little thing left that would raise the level of the turntable a bit further.
