Maria Joao Pires’ performance of Mozart’s Piano Concerto N°14 with Claudio Abbado and the Vienna Philharmonic was cut live in the Großer Saal of Vienna’s Musikverein in 1992. With the AudioSolutions speakers Mme. Pires’ piano sounded less lean and pointy than I remembered as a Deutsche Grammophon production and more like an instrument that aside from metal is built of wood. I also had a sense of the hall. With most speakers this actually sounds like a studio production. The Lithuanians conveyed a bit of the venue’s large cubic volume. Which made sense. After these and numerous additional albums I’d made my peace with the AudioSolutions. True, I still felt their bass was more substantial than completely true but so many speaker err on the other side that I considered the Euphony 140 a legitimate and attractive counter proposal.

Conclusion. Whilst AudioSolutions may still be a relatively new brand, designer Gediminas Gaidelis clearly knows his stuff. The Euphony 140 is a craftily voiced flawlessly constructed speaker. Such quality drivers from accredited sources one rarely encounters in a speaker of its price.

Starting below the lower midrange, the voicing is potent but the bass is so clean and articulate that I not only got used to this minor emphasis but ended up considering it most attractive and an antidote to thin recorded mixes.

Acoustic instruments exhibited the tonal balance one recognizes from a concert if one can’t afford (or wants) the most expensive seats in the front row.

The whole is wrapped up with excellent broadband resolution, very clean playback and top-shelf finish to add up to a very attractive option that should find its niche in the market place.

Psych profile for the AudioSolutions Euphony 140...
plays it very clean and without unpleasant effects. The treble in particular deserves praise for its purity which I consider rare in this price class.
the bass is trained not for ultimate extension but impulse fidelity yet reaches quite low.
the speaker in general shows good resolution and intelligibility of lyrics.
it casts a properly proportioned stage with solid localization of individual sonic happenings.
it exhibits a solid emphasis in the lower midrange and entire bass which over time I came to enjoy more and more. In conjunction with the not equally elevated treble this made for very a long-term happy voicing.
within the normal limits imposed on maximally attainable SPL, this box is gifted with very good micro and macrodynamics.
enjoys a very good price-to-performance factor.
