Summary. Most companies build their portfolio from the bottom up. Amare Musica started at the top to now move down the ladder. On one hand it may just be easier that way because after creating a statement all they had to do was 'reduce' performance to fit into a lower price range. On the other hand expectations by those who heard the top model are huge and won't be easily satisfied by less just because it costs less. If you hear a system you love but can't afford, you look for one within reach that delivers performance as close as possible. In this case I think you won't be disappointed. Less expensive though still not really affordable, the Entropy offers very fine value for the money. Throw in world-class finish, utmost care for all details including high-quality components and a brilliant remote and what you get is a unique integrated that will successfully compete with products by well-known established brands.

Amare Musica's Entropy is a single-ended tube integrated amplifier with direct-heated triodes making 23wpc. The output tubes are Emission Labs' most powerful called 1605 and driven by a pair of their 20B. The enclosure is made of 2mm polished stainless steel for an almost mirror-like surface though it can be painted almost any color a customer might wish. The transformers casings are soft steel. Unlike most tube electronics makers Amare Musica decided on expensive top-quality tubes. To prolong their life expectancy there's delayed anode voltage switching and soft-start heaters. The whole operation of the amplifier is controlled by a programmable logic circuit with LED dot-matrix display placed in the front panel's center. It's a great display easily legible from 3-4 meters. On the front two knobs control volume and input selection. The back has quality WBT terminals, three pairs of CMC silver RCA soldered directly to the input selector and an equally solid high-quality Furutech power inlet. There are only single pairs of speaker output so you choose whether these should be set for 4 or 8Ω before you buy.

Entropy transformers are wound by hand with silver wire. Internal hookup wiring is silver and oxygen-free copper, coupling capacitors are Jensen copper-foil and cathode resistors are from Caddock. For this model the designers opted against vacuum tube rectification and each power tube gets a separate solid-state CLC power supply. Volume control is a DACT resistor ladder made of low-noise non-inductive SMD resistors.

An interview with Maciej Lenar & Marcin Sołowiow.
Marek Dyba: It all started last year with your fantastic preamplifier and monoblocks so next came an integrated amp as a natural addition to your portfolio?
Amare Musica: The presentation during last year's Audio Show was a huge success but a lot of people asked if we were planning on developing an integrated amp. Since we planned it anyway this interest from potential customers only urged us to speed up our work. We figured out what we wanted to do, chose the power tubes and drivers and started to design a particular layout and the external look.

For your top monos you chose 300LS power tubes that in fact work like standard 300B, an interesting choice considering that you might have squeezed a bit more power from them. This time you chose a more powerful tube that is hardly seen in any commercial product.
It was no coincidence that we chose the most powerful Emission Labs triode. The EML1605 produces 23 watts, enough to drive most speakers on the market. The choice of a driver was even simpler. We again went after the EML20B which had already done such a great job in the Trinity whilst driving a pair of EML300B-XLS. So in fact we utilized a similar concept as before and arrived at a completely direct-heated triode design.

Unlike most tube devices manufacturers around the world you chose to deliver your products with top quality tubes. Other manufacturers use inexpensive valves from Electro-Harmonix, JJ or one of the Chinese brands.
Emission Labs produce top notch tubes offering great quality and sound but it comes at a price. The EML1605 combines the best sonic elements of triodes like the PX25 and 300B with output power like a 845 or 211. So we offer amazing performance right out of the box. Our customers don't need to chase what tubes to buy to get maximum performance from an amplifier they already paid a lot for. Of course it affects the price of our machine as these tubes don't come cheap. On the other hand we also did what we could to expand the tubes' life span so one doesn't have to worry about buying replacements soon.

This time you opted for a solid-state power supply. Why?
We felt that for this project it was a better solution than tube rectifiers and I can tell you for certain that it did not effect the sound in any negative way.

During the time between my previous and this review you have shown me a lot of renderings. Is that how you work? Everything is created with proper software in a computer?
Before we build a prototype all elements including the PCBs and parts mounted to them are put together in Solidworks. That allows us to see our new product in virtual 3D. Doing it on screen allows us to see errors in our design so we can actually avoid them with our first physical prototype.
